RR HOF Nominations. Well at least Alice Cooper is in there....

The annual weirdness that is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominations list was released today and, once again, a whole host of worthy artists were ignored.

But hey, Bon Jovi is in there! Seriously, Bon Freakin' Jovi may just enter the Hall before the New York Dolls, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Motorhead, ELO, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden.

How do ya like them apples?

The good news is that the list (which includes such legendary rock and rollers as Chic and Donna Summer) is that, finally, Alice Cooper is on there.

And man, he had better get in.

Other interesting folks on the list: J. Giels, Laura Nyro, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Joe Tex, Beastie Boys, Dr. John and Tom Waits. I have no strong opinions about most of these. Neil Diamond is probably the one I can most get behind, I suppose. And maybe Beastie Boys.

I will say this: if Bon Jovi gets in, I will delete all content about the HOF from this site and never utter the institution's name again. A man has to draw the line somewhere, does he not?

Which one of these guys do YOU want in YOUR Stall Of Fame? "Why yes, It would be an honor for me to grab the dustpan, Mr. Kristal"

"Some first nominee suggestions: Jack Rabid, Spot, Rodney Bigenhiemer, Hilly Kristal, John Peel, Seymour Stein."

Kozik, Rick Griffin, Kelley & Mouse...

"Not of course, if they induct Bon Jovi. Then they're dead to me. ;) "

Bon Jovi will get in on the first try, mostly because they represent the '80s and not much else.

Something else to consider in our own "institution", acknowledging non-performers, sidemen, producers, etc. RRHF does this as well, but also neglects many. Some first nominee suggestions: Jack Rabid, Spot, Rodney Bigenhiemer, Hilly Kristal, John Peel, Seymour Stein.

OK, time to get the ball rolling on our own "institution" Let's start with a name -- and let's discuss it here:

Kudos on From The Inside from Alice. Hey I even love Zipper Catches Skin (OUCH!). Let the rediculing begin. God I love this place.

The Otis Redding plane wreckage is a little disturbing. But Julie is right, there are bands represented that are not actually inducted. Handsome Dick Manitoba's wrestling outfit is one of the highlights.

Bruce, to me, "Misfits" is a near perfect record. Even Dave Davies contributions are stellar, in fact, I think they are probably the better songs on the record. That album came out while I was in middle school and never left my turntable all through high school and there after. I love the sonic quality of that record as well as the writing. To me, the production of their records were all very "thin" prior to Misfits...

Thanks TC, yeah, I think "Inside" is one of those oddball releases that people really didn't get. If I remember it correctly, it was after his detox situation, so the material was darker and a bit more somber.

After this Round of Inductees, I have will no longer officially give a crap of what the "Rock and Roll" HOF says. The place has reached the level of the "Grammy's" as an official joke.

No problem with Mr. A. Cooper, who belongs if for nothing but "Under My Wheels." However, Donna Summer? Really? The Beastie Boys? Really? So I while I love the Idea of trying to nudge the HOF into growing a Brain by creating a Master List, I think their methods have become unsound. Time to send Martin Sheen up through the Great Lakes to terminate this Monstrosity. With extreme prejudice.
