Rock and Roll Tribe

A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

This morning as I was zipping around Facebook, seeing the usual hooey I wrote this status,

***Lying non-stop while frolicking around cyberspace really isn't such a great idea...if you think anything is private, think again...once you *agree* to be on any of these sites, privacy sort of goes out the window...have a lovely day lovely people...truth is where it's at***

I've thought of writing this blog for a long time now, keeping names out of it and thinking this is the moment to do so being cut-off from my real job today, but I'll keep it short and sweet.

I became part of a rather small community in cyberspace a few years ago, note the word small, with high hopes that several involved in this Independent Music community would gain a type of much larger audience based on talent and integrity.  I had a mission and was and still am committed to it.  I rather stupidly got 'stuck' on a certain musician.  I saw so many signs of 'lack of integrity' but ignored them and continued supporting and promoting and even paying out payola to have them played to another musician I hooked them up with who also showed those same signs of lack of integrity, a match made in heaven.  Unfortunately as a duet along with a few cronies they were screwing others who chose to ignore this since I figure it's a small community and they figured why rock the boat, I'm assuming this, never asked, and several just 'left' the community as it was.  Of course this opened it up for several more with absolutely no integrity to mouth off more hooey.  It's OUTRAGEOUS!!! and rather sad.

So as a summary, just a few thoughts...that seeing and allowing others to act hideously and use you no matter how small or few will only fuel the fire for the same behaviour to continue...be aware of huge egos and even if FREE don't get involved with them, in the long run the 'talent' provided to you will only come back and smack you in the face...surround yourself with good and moral and that's how the world will see you...beware of people in cyberspace with questionable profiles and pictures, they're most likely 'nutjobs' you'd rather not have in your posse of friends cyber or otherwise and that you're responsible for passing these 'people' around...and that you can just as easily be screwed in the Independent world as in the Majors!!!

"If I had to rank them I'd go: 1. Rushmore 2. Royal Tenenbaums 3. The Fantastic Mr. Fox 4. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou 5. The Darjeeling Limited 6. Bottle Rocket But I love 'em all.  I'd say all six would be in my top 150…"

"You and I are on the same wavelength, Gail.  I posted that trailer yesterday morning on Facebook.  It opens this weekend, but only in L.A. and NY.  I hope it comes to Chattanooga soon.  Darjeeling Limited took forever to get here."

"The whole soundtrack is great and the movie is very good.  You'll dig it more than most because you'll get all the rock & roll references.  The soundtrack also has my second favorite Dinosaur Jr. song: "Take a Run at the…"

"Just caught this scene in Grace of My Heart.  Written by Costello and Bacharach, this verrsion (sung by Kristen Vigard not Illeana Douglas) is not available on the official soundtrack.  Pretty great: "
