Rock and Roll Tribe

A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

This is a book that is done with the greatest of love that one can hope for. When Johnny Ramone passed away he was working on a book. His friends John Cafiero along with Steve Miller and Henry Rollins made a promise to him to finish the book. They have kept that promise as well as keeping Johnny's words and mannerisms in tact.

Johnny talks about his days growing up and how he was a punk-ass kid. In the book, he is quoted as saying "I was terror in the neighborhood, like a really bad fonzie. I threw bricks through windows. I beat people up."

There are some great and never before seen photos of his youth as well as a picture of his farther who was a big influence on him..

He was a typical catholic boy who was average student and a rowdy kid. He got into music when he was seven years old from a guy who changed the 45s singles on the Jukebox of the bar that his farther own. He let Johnny keep those singles. He built an incredible collection of singles by Elvis Presely, Chuck Berry, and Fats Domino etc.

He formed his band at the age of 14 with Tommy Erdelyi aka Tommy Ramone called The Tangerine Puppets. Tommy was an all American kid with a passion for horror films and , baseball.

He talks about the concerts that he saw. His first concert was the Rolling Stones at Carnegie Hall on June 20,  1964. He also witnessed the Beatles at Shea Stadium, but he was there to throw rocks at them. He put them under his coat. Johnny also witnessed Black Sabbath on there first American Tour as well as the Amboy Dukes.

He covers his time with the Ramones very extensively as well as the time that he discovered that he had prostate cancer.

Johnny reviews each Ramone album very carefully with giving each album either an A, B, or C. Excellent personalized autographed photos of Nancy Reagan and Paul McCartney are shown here.

The book is well put together and easy to read. Two more great highlights are Johnny's top-ten. He has a top ten for horror

movies, punk bands, guitarist, and his favorite Republicans. Another highlight is a loving tribute by Lisa Marie Presley.

Looking forward to getting this. I was thumbing through it the other day at a Barnes & Noble. One thing that I thought was pretty funny was when the Ramones were travelling in their van, Johnny would have either a baseball game or Rush Limbaugh on the radio...which would annoy the others!

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
