My new project is DONE...!

I hadn't finished a song in a long, long while, when one morning my wife Julie bounded downstairs having dreamed a vivid song called 'The Past Won't Last." There are talented exceptions to this annoying band-clash brigade, however. Dr. Feelgood is certainly one of… Continue

Great Canadian Singles – 3’s A Crowd

Photobucket
Having grown up in Canada, I had the fortune to be exposed to a lot of songs that the rest of the world missed out on. Canadian Content Laws have done wonders for Canadian artists, but it’s also done wonders for Canadian music fans. (sorry Libertarians) There was some pretty fine vinyl put out in the Great… Continue

"Lullaby for the Working Class   Spare, mellow, almost ambient alt-country band from the late 90s. I'm almost embarrassed that I'm only discovering them now. Unbelievably great. Some loose personnel associations with Bright Eyes. Only…"

I totally met Michael Nesmith and I didn't pass out

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
