Once again, I've put together my annual Yuletide Mix of interesting artists and songs, most (but not all) with a psych pop or power pop vibe. The 2012 edition features new bands such as The Sufis…Continue

We've been discussing the top albums of 2011, but sometimes the best new songs don't live on those discs. Every year, I put together a "Yuletide Mix" of the songs I think should've been radio hits…Continue

"Glad you're digging it, Harry. Keep your ears peeled for the Hot Nun album which also features Jeff Shelton. I think it's due in February. And if you haven't delved into his Spinning Jennies catalogue, it's pure power pop bliss..."

End-of-year Playlists for 2012

Once again, I've put together my annual Yuletide Mix of interesting artists and songs, most (but not all) with a psych pop or power pop vibe. The 2012 edition features new bands such as The Sufis (great new psych pop from Nashville, much like The Paperhead) and The UFO Club (Christian Bland of the Black Angels and Lee Blackwell of The Night Beats) along with several long-time favorites. The "flow" is crucial in my opinion, so here they are, in an order that hopefully makes for an enjoyable…See More

Hi Stu - Only just discovered the music of the Lucky Bishops and the Sea-ders recently. No matter how much time passes there are always some brilliant bands to discover. I've been on Last.Fm since 2005 and usually go there most days. Spotify has also been invaluable; I think the U.S. will get the service the end of this year.

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt.
