The Kids Are Alright

We have two boys - 5 & 3 - Noel & Lennon (can you guess what kind of music we dig?).  They are being raised in a very musical household - drums in the basement, Beatles usually playing, books and books and books about music, etc.  We're not music nazis with them, but we just don't play crap in our house.  My kids don't even know who The Wiggles are.  Seriously.  It just so happens that The Beatles and The Beach Boys make music that kids seem to instantly love (thank you, God).  I…

Thanks for the invite, Bob! It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I see we have very similar taste in music. And maybe movies, too. I'm looking forward to the next Planet of the Apes movie. I'm glad you liked the Silver Sun. They always make me feel a little better.

I totally met Michael Nesmith and I didn't pass out

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
