I recently picked up the Keith Richards bio Life.  Pretty awesome read!I loved how it opened with the story of the Alabama shakedown and he got out of it because he got his big time southern lawyer…Continue

Support Rock and Roll - Young VS Old?, These Guitars Ain't Free, Music Biz 2.17

Hi!

I'm perusing my copy of the first issue of Sonic Reducer.  This is a great zine and I want to thank JB and Bruce for putting this together!  Nice job guys.  There is one phrase toward the beginning that got me to thinking...

"...amazing new music is being made, and veteran rockers have an obligation to champion and support great young artists"

Young vs. Old

I wholeheartedly agree with the statement of support - with a…

Doc Martin Let Me Down

Posted on May 9, 2011 at 2:26pm 0 Comments

So I had a psychologically fulfilling yet physically harrowing adventure in the Bay Area last week.  While I'm working up a post for my main blog Project Rock and Roll detailing the whole affair, I decided to dedicate a little space here to the part of the story related to getting fucked over by my 6 month old white Doc Martins.

I've been loving and wearing Doc's for as much of my adult life as I can remember.  I…

Aging Disgracefully - or - Don't Trust Anyone Under 30

Greetings rock and roll true believers!

I'm actually not suspicious of the under 30 set, in fact my drummer is 22 (whoops).  I just thought it was a clever play on the old Pete Townsend quote that would go over well with the audience of Rock and Roll Tribe.  I lied and in doing so revealed myself for the untrustworthy rock and roll geezer I am and made a mockery of the rest of this post.  Now that that's out of the way...

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
