Technically, we're only talking three proper albums here (and a plethora of odds & sodds comps)-- but wow!  Those three albums are nearly perfect.  I think Apple Venus Vol. I is the best of the…Continue

Hello XTC lovers, FYI I got to interview Martin Newell, who is a long time Andy Partridge conspirator, about some cool re-releases that are coming out tomorrow.  If you have never heard Newell's "Greatest Living Englishman" record, which features Partridge, I highly recommend!  Till then, for your consideration interview below:  http://www.rockerzine.com/index.php/2012/04/cleaner-from-venus-mart...

hey fellow rock n rollers!  if you wanna hear a new, hot, young, up & coming rock n roll band, check out my new tunes on my tribe site!  Become my friend and let me know what you think!  New, young bands talk all about rock but are forgetting all about the roll!  I'm workin on fixin that for ya'll!

White Music initiated a revolution in my head. All through the 80s this band were one of only a handful of things I could rely on. I kind of dropped off around Apple Venus and Fuzzy Warbles vol 6 (?) But you never turn your back on the things you loved.

I got A. J. Partridge's Powers the other day (No. 207 of 500) and it's been in constant rotation since it's arrival. It's not what I expected at all from Andy's initial caveat "Most people are going to think of this album as just bleeps and bloops"... I was thinking Metal Machine Music Part Deux.
At the risk of sounding lame (I'm a man of few words and even less intelligence) this album is a mind blowing aural soundscape. Think of late 50's / early 60's sci-fi B-movies, or the original Twilight Zone and Outer Limits television series minus the monaural tin speaker sound and you're part way there. It's sometimes entrancing, sometimes frightening but always interesting. As a special treat, if you listen to it on iTunes and use the Visualiser the album is a full blown sensory experience. Well, you have to supply your own taste, smell and feel, but you get the idea.
The packaging, as with all APE product is top-notch. Andy's rendition of Richard M. Powers style is uncanny!
Highly recommended, get it while you still can!!!

Picked up a new kayak yesterday. The only reason I mention it here is because the serial number stamped on the side was XTC 52..... which prompted a Black Sea listen from soup to nuts. Coincidence? maybe...

Speaking of Wondermints, couldn't resist this one- even if it belongs somewhere else.

Very Austin Powers. Wondermints got the title track (and I do love Wondermints) but the Dukes would have been a great choice for the man of mystery soundtrack

Psychadelic? Definitely! Reminds me of Magical Mystery Tour.
