I totally dig that Wanda Jackson, she could have kicked Buddy Holly's ass! Funny how she starts the song with the rung out chord and says "that's pretty" before launching into it. I'll look it up, but is that Junior Brown on the double neck guitar? Have to get more of her tunes.

Anybody got any favorite female rockabillies? I'll get the two obvious ones out the way:

Both Boz Boorer and Levi Dexter are still around doin' great rockabilly too, mostly without the 80's new wave component. Boz's last album, "Miss Pearl" from 2008 is great!

The Polecats were great ... I don't think their album did them justice. Too New Wavey. They were excellent live though. Boz the guitarist plays with Morrissey now. My favourites from the neo rockabilly in england around 1980 were the shakin pyramids ... nad best of all Levi Dexter

OK, now I'm done- the Guana Batz, started in London and relocated to San Diego. This is a great video and a cool song.

Last one to share for the night- Jesse Dayton, what is being called "turbo country", but isn't that kind of what rockabilly is anyway?

Holy Shit! I forgot all about The Polecats until I stumble across this gem on YT. This is what happened when rockabilly clashed with new wave in the 80's in London. I used to dig their stuff in high school, but hearing it now, it really doesn't stand the test of time- what do you guys think?

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
