Power Pop is a genre unto itself, however every now and then a mainstream music artist will dip their toes in its effervescent pool of hookyness.  My challenge to you is to make a list of mainstream…Continue

It's NEVER too late to talk about Kelly Stoltz, pplist....another one in a long list of over-looked power pop greats, though, that's not a proper application of the term.  I pull his albums out a few times a year without fail....

Thanks for this-I had stopped with Circuloir Sounds, sounds like I should pick this up too.

Sure it's a couple of years old, but I recently posted this one, plus a couple of free and legal downloadables.

The BEEST has been RELEESED! Brothers and Sisters, we are happy to announce our album, "Bewilderbeest (2000)" is now available in high-resolution download for the first time! Not only is the album here but it also includes two songs not available before on download, "What Soul Have I?" and "Settle Down (Doug mix)." Also available here are free high-resolution PDFs of the original jacket and bonus pannels. Recorded partially in Ukraine and in St. Louis, "Bewilderbeest" contains some of best The Sun Sawed in 1/2 songs including "Beholder and His Eye" and "Kiss Her Like You Mean It." So, download the mighty Beest today!

Beware, theres a act of the same name.

I am referring to these guys here:

I can only speak so far for the album The Ancient Art of Leaving: Two Parts so far, but it so great that I'm kinda bummed they were able to escape my notice this long ;<)

one of the best new power pop guys I have heard in recent years - Mr. Kurt Baker! He has three albums and a bunch of videos on youtube. He reminds me of a cross between early Elvis Costello and early Joe Jackson (does that mean he sounds like The Jags? ha ha. maybe.) You can stream his new album and, more imprtantly, BUY it here: http://kurtbaker.bandcamp.com/album/brand-new-beat

One of my favorite albums of 2012. Give it a listen, won't ya?

Sheeit, I'm the co-founder of this site and I totally forgot to post this info here:   should have posted info on this here last week when it came out as all 500 copies are now gone and it's sold out. http://popgeek.highwire.com/product/power-pop-planet-volume-one-2-c...

If you aren't aware of it, check out POP GEEK HEAVEN, another site I started(bsides this one w/ Jon).  It's totally free and there's 2,500 members there.

Just posted a righteous digi-comp for January - download it for free(the quirk is that you have be a member to view the content there but, again, it's free to join...):
