Power Pop In The Mainstream

Kids this rarely happens 28 years into a rock career, but the new Tommy Keene album Behind the Parade is his best album.

Check it out immediately.

Perhaps I'm late to this band, but....Wow!  Have you heard Hurricane  Fighter Plane, a new-ish mod/power pop band out of Perth? Have a listen to their new 2011 EP here:

Love it!  The lead singer/composer, Wesley, tells me: "We're back in the
studio this week. New single has a Pictures of Lily, Away From The Numbers kinda feel to it!"  When he references The Who and The Jam, well, I am all ears.

Here's "Burden On Me" off my new album "Kris Rodgers and The Dirty Gems". Pretty heavily influenced by power pop! Would love some feedback!

I was unaware Steve Kilbey of The Church and Ricky Maymi of Brian Jonestown Massacre had this obscure new album they are touring behind in Australia.  Link includes video and review of their Sydney show

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
