Pretty self-explanatory, share the Power Pop Gem you are currently listening to.  I'll start:

Ice Cream Hands - Traveling Made Easy (1993)

Chewey Marble - Modulations (2008) and Betty Drake - Grape and Red (2003)

I've also been listening to all my Model Rockets and Tripwires cds lately. Can't seem to

get enough of 'em.

Here is a fun one with a young Eric Carmen

Cyrus Erie - "Get the Message" (1969, ft. Eric Carmen)
Wow! Never heard that before. Ya gotta love the click in the vinyl too. Great stuff!

Jason Falkner's All Quiet on the Noise Floor -- Includes new (in 2009) studio versions of "Princessa," "My Home Is Not a House," and "This Time" and a Be-Bop Deluxe cover ("Jet Silver and the Dolls of Venus").  His "Evangeline" is better than Matthew Sweet's (different songs, same title).

Yeah, you can never lose with any of Jason's albums or E.P.'s.

This week on the way to work I've been listening to:

Nick Lowe - The Old Magic

Dave Edmunds - Best of

Fountains of Wayne - Sky Full of Holes

I just read about this group in the Metro today. The song is fun. The video is hysterical.

The Wellington's In Transit is impressive. Highly recommended!
Gotta be in at least my top 20 for 2011.  Good Stuff!

Curt-

Have you heard the new Meyerman disc? That one's pretty good too.

What are your recommends?

Rich

That is a good one!  I Was worried earlier this year when the only stand out was The Insomniacs new one, but since late July/early August the gates have been opened and there has been a bunch of really good stuff.

Others to look for are:

The Bangles - Sweetheart Of The Sun

Pugwash  - The Olympus Sound

Everybody Else - Wanderlust

Dark Ocean Colors - Dark Ocean Colors

The Handcuffs - Waiting For The Robot

Wiretree - Make Up

Kelly's Heels - Playing Into Your Hands

Thanks so much for that! I'll be spending my time this weekend the best way I know how, listening to some new music. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I too thought it was a slow year for music until summer got here. It's been a bonanza of good stuff since. I think your comment about the Insomniacs release being the only noteworthy one up till summer is really accurate.

I've been playing the new FOW alot too. My guess is that you've already hear it but in the event that you haven't, it's a good one too.

Thanks again, Curt!

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
