Mine was in 1984, Sandstone Ampitheatre, Twisted Sister/DIO. I saw Van Halen and Rush before that, but they don't count, right?

Or you could check out "the real deal" Goatsnake. With a name like that you have to be METAL!

Like Airbourne and Krokus, why not try Rhino Bucket? They've even shared drummer with AC/DC.

Or Accept, for that matter.

I just posted about Martin Popoff on another thread - but folks here should check out one of my favorite writers in the hard rock and metal realm. I own 19 of this guys' books. His anthologies on metal and obscure hard rock of the 70s are must for geeks. Everything written, always, from a fan's point of view. He's always concerned about the music first and writing second(or third). So rock writers will find his style irritating while fans will find themselves in his approach. http://www.martinpopoff.com/html/welcome.html

First four gigs of 'known' bands happened in quick succession in 1980 all at the Sheffield City Hall (UK). These were Wishbone Ash, Saxon, The Scorpions and Def Leppard. All these bands were releasing great stuff then, even Def Leppard were playing proper hard rock and not the overblown monstrousness of the mid 80's/90's. Some of the support bands were lesser known New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) bands which was a real buzz. Punk ethic and great, heavy, music. All hail Fist and the mighty Tygers of Pan Tang! Ha, good times.

KK....Airbourne are a stellar band live! I saw them at the Bluebird here in Denver in 2008 and was absolutely floored by them. I've never seen a band with as much energy on stage as they have.

First metal show? The first one I *wanted* to see would have been Kiss in '76 on the Destroyer tour; my sister wanted to see Donny & Marie(Osmond). My sister won. The first show for me was Kiss in '77 on the Alive II tour.....

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
