I'll throw in a curve ball with Deaf School. Part of the Liverpool scene that grew up between Glam,Punk and Prog, Deaf School were also influenced by caberet and theatrical rock.Members include Clive Langer who went on to produce Bowie amongst others.

It's always surprising to me that so many of my favorite musicians are unable to make a full time living with their music. Maybe history will treat them kindly, but that doesn't pay the rent today!

Yeah, right. There are also busloads of comments along the lines "my father used to play in this band".

I shake my head when I surf to a Myracle Brah video on You Tube and read something along the lines of "Mr. Bopp is my gym teacher!!!" in the comments section.

Mark, I've got Myracle Brah alright.

Heikki - thanks for sharing the Hurriganes videos. Decent stuff but I'd have to hear more to understand why they are the most cherished Finnish rock band ever. Meanwhile, my next recommendation is the Myracle Brah's CD "Life On Planet Eartsnop." Terrible band name and album name, but maybe the best early-Beatles derivative record ever!! Pop heaven!

I just have to disclose this. This is probably the most cherished Finnish rock band ever. They had the attitude, looks and style (of their own). They may not have mastered the language but otherwise they sure knew their trade.

I would like to understand if one simply needed to born a Finn in order to appreciate this. Or the following, for that matter.

That one was a cover of a Lollipops song. There's also a demo (of the song) by Stiv Bators. He renamed it as I'm No More, though. Maybe he had once learned about the song from his sometime roommate Michael Monroe.

Resigned is the one I kept :)

Heikki- I kinda think Penn & vonSneidern are spotty, as well. Although, I think Penn's "Resigned" is one of the greatest albums of all time. CVS, IMHO, has some great songs, but rarely a strong full album of them.
T. Cruz- I think "Sandbox" actually came out in the late '80's (or early '90's), so you pretty much nailed it. I'd highly reccomend digging it out of your storage boxes. Of course, I have the same problem: too much good music to listen to and not enough hours in the day!

Love that straight jangly sound! Reminds me of the late 80's. I have that cd but haven't ripped it yet and the core of my collection is in boxes
