Saw Ms. Speace last night in Dallas--just pretty incredible...this is her first "official" video from her upcoming disk:

Rod Picotte might go under the "Americana" heading too, but this is pretty good stuff:

John Wicks of The Records (Remember Starry Eyes?) and Debbi Peterson (Remember The Bangles?) have been writing and doing the occasional acoustic show together. They were fantastic. They did a Songwriter's Square show near LA that I'm told might become a regular thing. Worth checking out. Here's a review of a recent show.

Langhorne Slim. A great talent with a mix of folk, soul, rock. He tours quite a bit-- check 'im out.

I think a lot of people attending the up coming Social Distortion tour this fall will walk away floored by the opening artist. Some will trade in their Social D. cd's for a copy of his. Frank Turner.

This is a song about her father, who had just lost two brothers, one twin within a short period. He was very stoic, according to Ms. Speace, when he told her about the deaths. When she gave an interview about this song earlier this year (2010), she said she had never told him the song was for him. Great, great song.

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
