Comment by pplist on December 15, 2010 at 10:31pm I love that song by The Hobbes Fanclub, Thomas, and found that it's available for free download here at Cloudberry. (Scroll down to 800.) Thanks for the headsup.
Comment by pplist on December 15, 2010 at 10:11pm Stockholm band Let's Say We Did gave me leave until year's end to post a hooky little number I love. This being the Ides and all, the deadline is rapidly approaching. In case you haven't heard the band or the song, here it is. (Left click to play, right click to download.)
Let's Say We Did - Straight Back To You mp3
You can read more about it and find a link to the song's demo and one other tune here.

Comment by Thomas Cruz on December 15, 2010 at 2:32pm I love the term "jangleur"!
Comment by pplist on December 15, 2010 at 12:56pm I've finally found a song by The Drums to like, and it's about my favorite pastime to boot. (I prefer to do it right where I'm sitting, though, as my Macbook is sand-averse.) I like the Knight School Version of "Let's Go Surfing" much better than previous versions I've heard. You can get free and legal mp3s of this and the other versions, plus other Drums songs here at RCRD LBL.
Comment by pplist on December 15, 2010 at 12:31pm Slumberland Records has released the first single from New York City jangleurs The Pains of Being Pure At Heart's forthcoming LP, Belong. (The email I got from Slumberland says the LP drops in February, while the Slumberland site says in March, so take your pick.) Ma and Pa Slumber describe "Heart In Your Heartbreak" as "an infectious slice of chunky powerpop with a great beat, sweeping synths and well-placed guitar jangle." You can sample the song and B-side "The One" here and get a free and legal mp3 of "The One" in exchange for your email address at the British Indie label Fortuna Pop website here. (Third time to post's a charm.)
