So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. Comment by MrQwerty on July 31, 2010 at 6:42am: Mott of course joined the Glam Rock movement with their wonderful cover of All The Young Dudes, but I always thought they were the best in their other earlier career as a sometimes Hard Rock/Dylanesque/Stones outfit on Island Records. If you've never heard this period you really should as you're in for a treat. Two of their best songs now to introduce you: The achingly brilliant Thunderbuck Ram:

And this great cover of Doug Sahm's At The Crossroads. This one is live BTW and I think has the edge over the studio version on Wildlife:

Where we go on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, there's a bar across the street that plays this next little glam/folk classic every hour, and the drunken patrons offer up their own x-rated lyrics. I'll always think of Mexico when I hear this:
