Once again, the person responsible for spreading mistruths has been sacked. The Quisling Clinic was in Madison, not Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Which blows the whole "Beer that made..." joke out of the water. Again, apologies to all offended, and the person who made this error will meet the same fate as Mr. Quisling himself.
If you ever wondered Where, and what the Hell the Quisling Clinic was...here is your answer:
(BTW--it is in Milwaukee, the City that Made Beer Famous, as if no one had discovered that before the founding of Milwaukee...but I digress...)
Somewhere in there, "there's a shorthand typist taking seconds over minutes . . ."
An interesting find--the Attractions solo disk in full:
Well, Olivia, (and thanks to fellow Triber Thomas Cruz for this information from Elvis)--Elvis himself says DON'T BUY THE NEW LIVE SET:
I'm am sure that will be greeted with Love from his label.
That is a SERIOUSLY expensive set. I was at that show, so I reeeeeally want it, but I can't justify spending that kinda money right now. Thanks for the heads-up, Stan!
For those that have the Coin--the new Elvis disks/dvd/vinyl only about 275.00 with shipping!
I'm sure that everybody has a favorite Elvis Costello song – most the time it would appear amongst the biggies. What's your favorite toss off song that Elvis wrote? One that's not the obvious like Oliver's Army or Pump It Up--personally for me, Fish and Chip Paper always brings a smile to the face. It's a great tune it doesn't always come to mind when thinking of the great Costello songs.
New member Torbjörn Pettersson messaged me concerning Mr. Costello with what I believe to be a pretty astute observation--how many other artists can you tick off that their first three albums hit it out of the park [with enough great toss offs to form a b-sides album (Taking Liberties)]. Other than the Beatles...I really can't name anybody else. And even the Beatles didn't make the huge strides musically that Mr. Costello did in the first three. Not saying that My Aim is True, This Year's Model or Armed Forces are "better" than the Beatles, but it them more time to break out of their mold.
Anyway, discuss amongst yourselves.
