Comment by pplist on December 22, 2010 at 4:10pm I love The Vines, Rick. Here's one of my favorites from 2008's Melodia.
Comment by pplist on December 22, 2010 at 4:00pm Fairfield's finest just came up on an eMusic playlist, so I thought, "Why not?"
Comment by Debra Denton on December 19, 2010 at 7:44pm I would love to be able to see the Church. Prefer their early material but still interested in hearing what they are up to now. Mark I'm also a fan of P76 and all the incarnations of Dom Mariani's bands. There is another band that I discovered recently that had a great sound - I believe it was The Early Hours.
Anyone like Powderfinger or the Vines?
Comment by Mark Haggard on December 17, 2010 at 7:06am Hi peeps! I, too, like a lot of the Aussie bands that have been mentioned (especially Dom Mariani/Someloves/Stems, M.Carpenter, Finn Bros/ C.House, P76, Chris Murphy, Innocents, etc). A few suggestions: Rob Smith of The Innocents has a couple of great solo albums that may be a little hard to find. I'm not a big fan of The Church, I love their album "The Blurred Crusade" and I like their 1st self titled US album. These are poppier than their other stuff. Another favorite that I haven't seen mentioned is The Dingoes. They had 3 albums in the '70's and one released in the States, "5 Times the Sun", which remains one of my all-time favorite records. They were sort of a Faces-style bar band, but that doesn't really do them justice. Thanks to all for your suggestions! Now I've got some new bands to check out.
Comment by pplist on December 17, 2010 at 2:19am Great news indeed, Julie. I saw them in Austin on the Gold Afternoon Fix tour; needless to say, they were incredible. Too bad they barely descend below the Mason-Dixon Line on this tour. Don't they know it's "the Bible Belt?" Come to think of it, maybe they do.

Comment by Julie Jurrjens on December 16, 2010 at 3:05pm That is great news. I saw their acoustic tour earlier in the year and it was a stellar show. Well worth the trek to Chicago. Road trip, anyone?
Comment by pplist on December 16, 2010 at 2:38pm As a part of their 30th Anniversary celebrations, long-time Aussie favorites The Church return in February 2011 for a one-month tour of the U. S. They will be performing three albums in their entirety: Untitled #23, Priest=Aura, and Starfish. Click here for more information, including tour dates.
