AM Radio Hits

To the great run of AM "hit" radio!  Before FM "underground" stations, AM was it.  Some songs just bring back that memory of trying to tune in that distant station, or jamming the static filled noise to 11.   Name those songs, jocks, stations, etc.

You never hear this said about Ambrosia, but this one sounds better LOUDER.

Another great AM hit from Ambrosia:

This one was buried in my deep grey matter until dropped in a beer fueled discussion--where the name "Bertha Butt" was thrown out.

The Steely Dan cut out of 1974 is one of those cuts that I always crick my neck and wonder how it made the "top 40."  Don't get me wrong, it is as great as anything those two ever did, but just strikes me as bizarre that it was "popular."  According to Wiki, in the March 24, 2006 issue of Entertainment Weekly, in an article titled "Back to Annandale", it was revealed that Rikki Ducornet was the apparent inspiration for the song due to a friendship songwriter Donald Fagen had with Ducornet while he attended Bard College. Ducornet was pregnant and married at the time, but recalls Fagen did give her his phone number at a college party while attending Bard and said that she believed she was the subject of the song. Fagen would not confirm the story.  Now you know, the rest of the story!  Good Day!

I am glad that they are "strangely fond."

I have strangely fond memories of listening to the burnout girls singing this in the back of the schoolbus.
