Yes, I would have to stop in here and at least get a cup of coffee.

Hello!
I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Marky Ramone last month while he was in London. I've been a big Ramones fan (and Marky fan!) and I have to say that he was exactly as you'd expect. The full video interviews are on a website I run www.wohomusic.net and we are running a competition for a drum skin that he signed for us.
I'm not spamming, just thought you may be interested in checking it out. :-)

No, Jon, it's in Lyndhurst, NJ (not sure why-- I think his mom moved there after she remarried).

Oh, that's a nice memory re CBGB, though so sad.

I have a CBGB memory that's comical but disappointing. When I was a senior in high school this guy that I was in love with but had been not speaking to for months got tickets to see the Dead Kennedys there as a makeup present for me. This was circa 1986 and I wasn't quite 17 yet.

I was THRILLED but when I told my parents my father said, "Go ahead. Go and have a good time but say your goodbyes because while you're there, I will have a heart attack and I'll be dead when you get home."

Being a dutiful daughter, and a gullible one, I declined the invitation and have regretted it every day of my life since. (I won't even tell you about the second row seats to U2 at Radio City I got that they made me give away because I got a D in French. Sigh. Oh well, as a parent now I have my priorities straight-- good seats trump cranky teachers any time!)

Where is that nancy - in Queens?

I'm glad I got to bring my son to CBGB the week before it closed. He got to go in, see a band onstage and soak up a bit of the vibe. then we took his pic below the Joey Ramone Way street sign. It was a very sad day for me, but one he'll always remember.

I'm thinking of making a pilgrimage to Joey's grave soon. It's not far (and coincidentally it's across the street from my grandparents' favorite restaurant-- I miss them too).

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
