Permalink Reply by Harry on July 28, 2012 at 12:47pm Fantastic so far, I've played it both ways on my commute the past 2 days, no motivation to put anything else on yet.
It's (...I may recant this...intial reaction..) not quite up there with '59 sound....probably as good or better than the 1st album and significantly above Amercian Slang....but I love all 4.
Derivative formulaic anthemic bombast has NEVER sounded better!!!
Kinda bummed there aren't live east coast dates already....they just played the Ritz in NY the other night (record-release bash) but now they're going over to Europe....I am definitely dragging my buds to the show if they come around here (Boston)

Mould's band continues to include Jason Narducy on bass and Superhunk's (and now Mountain Goats) drummer Jon Wurster.
They are out doing shows right now with full readings of this album and Sugar's Copper Blue.
This new album is easily as good as Copper Blue.
I passed on going to this up here, on the theory that I'd just seen them a couple yrs ago when it was a "all-in Husker Du/Sugar/Mould solo greatest hits" set....so how could this be better?
Now kinda rueing (sp?) that strategy.
