I have enjoyed most of the recommendations here and have found some other really good music on the power pop blogs' "best of" lists.  Thank you all.  My favorite of the year - by far, actually - is The Shins Port of Morrow.  James Mercer, who was in my Top 2 of 2010 with Broken Bells, has really got it figured out.  Perfectly crafted pop songs.

Still pouring through the various best of lists and recommendations (ok - I got off to a slow start in 2012) and thought I'd post Dave Bash's great  list if anyone didn't see it.  It can be found here:  http://www.facebook.com/notes/david-bash/my-best-of-2012-lists/1015...

Not many of his top 20-25 have been mentioned on RRTribe and I am really enjoying his entire list, the top 10 which include:

1. Nelson Bragg-We Get What We Want (Steel Derrick)

2. Marty Graveyard-Summer Holiday (V2)

3. David Myhr-Soundshine (Lojinx, Thistime)

4. The Tor Guides-Strawberries & Chocolates (Self-Released)

5. Green Day-Tre! (Reprise/Warner Bros.)

6. Throwback Suburbia-Shot Glass Souvenir (Self-Released)

7. King Washington-The Gears (Self-Released)

8. Sweet Diss and The Comebacks-Emerald City Love Song (Thistime)

9. The Kik-Springlevend (Excelsior)

10. Sitcom Neighbor-Charmed (Gravy Works Music Group)

And kudos for him uncovering 3lb Thrill's Rycopa release, finally,  15 years after it was recorded.  I used to love that band in the early 90's - then known as Uncle Green.

Neil Halstead - Palindrome Hunches
Will Johnson - Scorpion
Wintersleep - Hello Hum
Sun Kil Moon - Among The Leaves

Hey Gail and Stan, Kozolek (Sun Kil Moon) and Halstead are titans of Namby Pamby Land.

Noted! Thank you Harry. I started Todd Rundgren immersion therapy today.

Great news Gail, keep at it. If you don't love the Utopia albums, save them for last, but there's some greatness in there as well.

On the "solo" albums he plays all the instruments/vocals on most of them.

You probably need to take my opinion on this topic with a grain of salt.

I'm in the tank, a true believer, a member of the Todd is Godd Squad.

Seen him play out like 25 times.

Wow. I feel like I've started a new diet . I will keep at it Harry until I feel the burn. Thank you for cheering me on!

Flavor Crystals - Three

Tallest Man On Earth - There's No Leaving Now

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
