Rock and Roll Tribe

A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

Not neccesarily bad songs.  Not neccesarily bad bands.  Just songs I'm really that never need to be played again.

1. Legs - ZZ Top
2. Dirty Laundry - Don Henley
3. Start Me Up - Rolling Stones

I remember being shocked when I heard REM's "It's the End Of the World...." on the Chicken Little soundtrack. Weren't they once at the vanguard of alternative/college rock?
As Roberto Duran once uttered, "NO MAS, NO MAS!"

Anything from Supertramp's Breakfast in America. I was "in" radio at the time these guys peaked with that album. I heard it EVERYWHERE--and enough.

Free Bird--In Central Nebraska, it was the Theme Song for all of the Goat Ropers. And there were lots of them.

Jacko--"She's Out of My Life." Really? Do I need to add anything?

Wanted to note that I have been joined in my crusade to banish "Freebird" by Colin Meloy of the Decemberists.  From the post below:

"Turns out, Meloy holds board membership on MACOF, which stands for 'Musicians Against the Calling Out of Freebird.'  He claimed executive status within the organization in 2006, after fellow uneducated fans would request the classic-rock anthem."

Don't know much about the Decemberists.  And I am not a musician, so I cannot join MACOF.  However I will support their cause!

We could start a civilian version... god knows I'm sick of it too.

Physical by Olivia Newton-John, We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions by Queen. Love Queen, but I think these have been played at every sporting event on the planet since 1977.

To say the following songs have been played to death is an understatement of massive proportions:

1. Imagine/John Lennon

2. Bohemian Rhapsody/Queen

3. Yesterday/The Beatles

4. Hotel California/The Eagles

5. Sweet Home Alabama/Lynyrd Skynyrd

6. Layla/Derek & the Dominos

7. Layla (Unplugged)/Eric Clapton

8. Maggie May/Rod Stewart

9. Woman/John Lennon

10. I'm Still Standing/Elton John

Not so honorary mention: Anything by Pink Floyd

i'd say pretty much everything that gets played on most classic rock radio stations. my list is long. though solo eric clapton has a special place up at the top.

1-135. Most songs by Jimmy Buffett but especially his crap anthems Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise

136. Brown Eyed Girl

137. Sweet Home Alabama

138. Walk This Way

139. Hotel California

140. Stairway to Heaven

141. Shiny Happy People

142. Frank Sinatra's Christmas songs

Just about every "hit" by the Steve Miller Band. Those songs are automatic channel changers in my world. Talk about a classic rock artist being played ad nauseam to the point of over-kill!
Yes on 1-135

A local radio station recently added Warren Zevon's classic, "Lawyers, Guns and Money" to their rotation.

Sadly, they promptly commenced to play it every friggin' hour! Add this one to the list.... :o(

Don't Stop Believ'in -Journey

Even Flo - Pearl Jam

Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

Imagine - John Lennon
