Rock and Roll Tribe

A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

Songs I am way too cool to like.. But dammit I do anyway

Come on, we are all ( virtual) friends here.

Spill your shame songs,

we'll never tell.

Small print disclaimer..we all know one person's shame song is another's real toe tapper.

I guess I'm in MaxJack's boat where I don't have many guilty pleasures that I actually feel guilty about, but would rather defend in the face of hipster-ism

a call to arms if I've heard one..

Those F'n Hipsters are coming to take away our rights!!

a few from my recent past.. i used to hear rumbling from the basement, my daughter loved all things Brandon Boyd, later she told me it was about smoking pot..are you are you are you...

I like their "All The Young Dudes" rip, "Drops Of Jupiter". The guy comes up with some clever lyrics...I don't mind "Hey Soul Sister" either, even though the singer's voice grates with all the "hey-ay's".

Well since we're baring our souls, here's my confession: I've been a closet ABBA fan since I was 11. Watch this video and see if you can guess why. (Hint: Any band that allows its female members to perform without pants is okay by me.)

Paraphrasing Prez Bill Clinton, "I feel your shame."  I own their complete recorded output...and love it.  Great recordings, great song writing.

You cannot argue with a band with that many hits. Hooky as all get out. In the absence of the real thing, I've even gone to see Bjorn Again a couple times, where the pantsless kitty kimonos were featured.

Stan's words of support have emboldened me to post another one. Granted the set (apparently built in the same room where Flo the Progressive Insurance Lady works) is enough to induce a contact sugar high, but the song is one of their best, a classic example of perfectly-crafted pop. Besides, who's looking at the set? Agnetha and Frida are drop-dead gorgeous in this clip ...

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
