Enjoy!!!! I have to listen to it on my console stereo as I afraid to play it on the really turntable!
I just heard the Anita Bryant version last week, played by a sadistic co-worker.
There's a new Kula Shaker album?!?!?!?!? How the hell did I miss that?! I LOVE those guys! I thought their last album Strangefolk was fantastic. Actually, I think all of their stuff is fantastic. I don't know why they never acheived the same success as Oasis over here in the states.

Field Music - Tones of Town
Field Music - Field Music
The Apples in Stereo - Travellers in Space and Time
Seth Swirsky - Watercolor Day
I'm not Mike but I can give you the dish on Gaslight Anthem. They sound like a younger, less angry Social D. They have potential. I'd suggest you check it out on iTunes or Zune Marketplace before the big buy.

Anyone got the new Paul Weller yet? Heard some soundbites and it sounds really good.

Also, Mike, Gaslight Anthem -- yay or nay?
This morning i got a packet i had ordered from Detour Records.

the 6 CD's in it is:

Suzy & los Quattro / Freak Show EP
Masterswitch / More Action Replay
Speedball / Maximum Speed
Sta-Prest / Welcome To My World
and Bored Teenagers Volumes 4 & 5 compilations

I can't wait 'till i got time to listen to them.
The CDs I got from the last round were the following (w/ subjective remarks)

John Mayall: A Hard Road
* Of course I knew what I bought since I have it on vinyl, remaster incl. some bonus tracks too

Marc Almond: Varieté
* Surprisingly good, most mag reviewers got it right this time

The Gaslight Anthem:
* The shop was sold out on the latest one, so I bought this - somewhat derivative but ok

Mastodon: Crack The Skye
* Had to have it since Classic Rock Mag listed it as one of the prog cornerstones, very good - like Ozzy fronting prog STP

Ozzy osbourne: Scream
* Made a mistake in anticipating that new Ozzy must be like Mastodon, certainly wasn't w/ two decent tracks - have to get rid of it

Thelonious Monk: Four Classic Albums
* Have to have some jazz sometimes but not too often

Mastodon: Blood Mountain
* Made a mistake in thinking that all Mastodon is good, this certainly wasn't - have to get rid of it

Johnny Cash: American VI
* Had to complete the series, have not listened to it yet though

The Gaslight Anthem: American Slang
* Some other shop had it so I just had to buy, derivative still but more Replacements and Clash in addition to Boss, improvement I'd say

Again, a good reminder that one should listen before buying anything one doesn't know for sure. Unless you like surprises and/or got money in excess, of course.
If you like the Bored Teenagers comps you should get the two Raw Records comps Damaged Goods has released. Actually, everything Damaged Goods has put out is worth checking out.

The one that has "Soap" is one that I recommended - "TING". You dig this, yr going to love "Ting".

Thank you Bruce for these recommandations. On which album can I find the fabulous song "Soap bubble box" ? I've discovered this song on the 10th anniversary compilation of the french magazine Les Inrockruptibles and I instantly fell in love with song.

@Jean-Marie: The Nits: A good album bu tthis a band with many, many faces over 30+ years. I own everything they've done and most solo projects - I'm hardcore w/ them...

Their best of comps are good - I'm picky about them and find them spotty-ish but that is only because I have so many faves so it's impossible to please someone who has 30+ CDs from them....

that said find either HITS or DOPPELGOLD

For albums: start with finding TING and then ADIEU SWEET BAHNHOF

Then see how the band is hitting you.....

Bruce, "Strawberry Wood" is the first Nits album I've purchased. What other album from them would you recommand me next ?
Just got back from Strickly Discs (Madison, WI) and picked up

Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeaus Phoenix (180 gr vinyl)
Stars - The Five Ghosts (180 gr vinyl)
Here We Go Magic - Pigeons (vinyl)
the new Sun Kil Moon (cd)

and most importantly my son (8 yrs old) bought his first record a Beatles comp (vinyl)

I do have to add that the Phoenix rekkid is becoming one of my all time favs and it sounds incredible on vinyl!

Questions for the Tribe - How long does a rekkid have to be out before it can be considered an all time fav?
Thanks. i'll check them out. Yes, Damaged Goods seems to be quite a cool label, i got the 2 Cute Lepers albums, and would like to get something by the Cyanide Pills, as it looks like something i might like.

Hooked on the new Tame Impala which I've been listening to on Spotify. Anyone who has been into Cream will fall in love with their songs.
Hey there! An artist that gets all to little space in the forum is Martin Briley. His first three lp's - is total genius.
Checkout the 2 cd box set - "the mercury years" - and you get it all for a bargain at Amazon...
Listen to "salt in my tears" - gets me cryin'....

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
