It is easy to dismiss Ms. Winehouse as another junkie/addict who slowly offed themselves...but in an era where talent is based upon "being famous" rather than actual ability (Vanilla Ice, anyone), Ms. Winehouse--in spite all of her excesses, was a tremendous singer. Back to Black was and remains my pick for best of the 2000's--and I hope to live long enough where I will hear another disk of the same quality.  For another more in depth review of what I wanted to say, but am not as talented as this guy, see this essay:

I totally met Michael Nesmith and I didn't pass out

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt.
