Rock and Roll Tribe

A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

Curious if anyone is going to rolling.fm which is a site that is quite similar to turntable.fm. Whenever I have gone to rolling.fm no one is there. If enough people start to frequent the site many of us could share the music we love.

Allow me to speak from ignorance with regard to rolling.fm or turntable.fm

From my limited (so far) understanding of how it works (a lot of my buds are using it, I'm only getting around to it now..) I would bet that Spotify is the way to go.

The free version.

We all get on it, and then just email each other (or just post them here, for example) the playlists, libraries, etc, that we make up, recommend, etc, and then it's all in everybody's library.

This coming from the world's foremost Rhapsody proponent.....I don't see how anything can surpass Rhapsody....imho oxygen and food are among the things that are less valuable than Rhapsody...but I have to admit...it's not FREE

I've tried Spotify but haven't spent enough time to make it work, still trundling along on last.fm. If youse guys are out there, on Rolling or Spotify or whatever...I'm down with it.

I've been using Turntable.fm -- loads of fun if you get in the right room.  Would love to have a Tribe meetup in a room there so we can hang and play music for each other....
TurntableFM when first introduced was fantastic and reintroduced that faded concept us vinyl hounds experienced in our youth - listening to recorded music communally! So simple, but in the age of iPods & solo only listening, a bygone but unmatchable activity. TurntableFM is the first and best of these but quickly caved in to the draconian measures of the last century: Territorial Licensing Rights/Laws.

Debra & I had oodles of fun on TurntableFM chewing the cud, waxing lyrical about music, whilst listening to the same simultaneously with other enthusiasts. We were early adopters, However, not 2 weeks into the process TurntableFM closes its doors to all but the USA. Permissible polite words in mixed company cannot sum up the frustration and incensed annoyance we, citizens of the rest of the world feel about 1) the continual intrusion and killjoy effect of US Territorial Licensing Rights/Laws 2) the USA Only effect of so many services and programs which exclude the rest of the world's music lovers.

Debra as an American ex-pat living in Europe and myself as a humble European cannot tell you how utterly irritating and effing annoying this antiquated practice is and how it frustrates and baffles us in the 21st century.

To cut a long rant short can we suggest that we use RollingFM as a vehicle for a Rock and Roll Tribe get together so as to be inclusive of all, rather than exclusive of all but the USA.
Sounds good to me.  Gotta check out rollingFM and then let's do it!
Please let us know  when you are going on rolling.fm I have already uploaded some music there.
