Back in 1972 I was a 12 year old  hubba bubba chewing, roller skating punk to be..this was a great couples skate song at Skateland...

ok..one from the dark side..the first I heard this song on the radio I said "nice"..my 18 year old hipster grabbed me by the shoulders and said MOM SNAP out of it!..but everytime I run across it I think it's a great little song..(even if sung by the spawn of satan..)

I have a 3.5 year old daughter.  Don't think I'm going to click on that one just yet.  I figure I've got about 10 or 12 years of listening to that stuff ahead of me.  I trust your judgment Gail, but I'm sure you'll forgive me!

I still make my hipster jumpy now when I reach for the radio ..I think he is still suffering from Post Bieber traumatized ears syndrome...it's damn catchy though...

Ah.  The eternal debate.  What is a great pop song?  Me?  Its all about the hook.  For example, Mr. Lowe's Cruel to Be Kind. [Throw in most of Pure Pop for Now People [Jesus of Cool for our friends across the pond].  As Mr. Rogers would say, "Sure, I like that." 

And this one.  Which one of our Ultimate Leaders, Bruce Brodeen called one of the "great pop songs of all time" placing it his personal top 10.  Not sure I disagree.

Kiss--a band has never done more with less.  Instrumental hacks, adequate vocalists, but yet, the boys could write a little.  This one from their debut is much like my earlier posting of Starz--a band not known for their "pop" songs, but this one is hooky enough to belong in a bad horror movie.  (And despite the original posters

belief this is on Hotter Than Hell, well, its not).

In addition to the hook, some sort of veiled sexual (or not so veiled) overtones are a must.

Alright.  This one.  And I am done.  For now.  Over my time on this great site, I would have thought this guy's name would be blowing up everywhere.  This disk--Kyle Vincent--ranks in my Top Whatever.  Produced by Tommy Dunbar of the Rubinoos, it is just fine from laser drop to laser end.  And much of it has great pop like this:

If somehow you missed this guy, buy this immediately (and Wow and Flutter).  As the Great Author H.S. Thompson said, "Trust me.  After all, I am professional."

For whatever KV's stuff always seems a little too syrup-y for my taste, but I know lots of peeps with excellent taste that swear by him.

I understand.  My pop tastes run closer to and including bubblegum rather than the pop filtered, i.e., XTC or Apples in Stereo.  I had a friend explain to me that it is like candy.  Some go straight for the Peeps:

I know I will never redeem myself for my Beiberism..it's kind of like Tourettes..but instead of swearing up a storm due to misfiring neurons..I post questionable videos..Here is Nebraska boy..pride of the Prairie, Matthew Sweet...
