Rock and Roll Tribe

A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

You know what I mean, not necessarily popular, though they might be.  "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel or "Waterloo Sunset" by the Kinks or "The Brides Have Hit Glass" by Guided by Voices are all good examples.

Sometimes a great pop song seems almost to be a fluke, considering the bands history.  For example, the Meat Puppet's "Backwater" is a tremendous pop song...but not known for their catchy tunes...

Myracle Brah-Whisper Softly

I threw that one on my Roland 2480 and added backing vocals to it years ago...now it sounds weird without them.

I loves me some Silver Sun...and my choice for Pop Perfection under their Flag would be 17 Times:

I never knew a video existed for this song. This is one of my top 5 albums of all time, and I don't feel it gets enough mention, even in the Power Pop community.

Pretty much anything by the Go-Go's would qualify for this thread, but since this is the 100th reply, I'll go with this one:

Belinda Carlisle solo > the Go Gos

That Jane Wiedlin tune Rush Hour > the Go Gos

All due respect, Harry, but that's just nonsense.  Nothing in either of their subsequent careers can touch the first two Go-Go's albums.

BTW, here'smy favorite Go-Go's track, the Stiff version of "Lust to Love" -- also falls under Pop Perfection:

Or this, another early Stiff single:

Crowded House could have a massive showing here--but this is my favorite version of my favorite song of theirs:
