Rock and Roll Tribe

A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

You know what I mean, not necessarily popular, though they might be.  "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel or "Waterloo Sunset" by the Kinks or "The Brides Have Hit Glass" by Guided by Voices are all good examples.

I tend to think Farrah's s/t album, released a couple of year ago, is their best (from which this track is taken).  You can listen at the link below.  The other 2 full albums are good listens also.

A pop gem from the Hoodoo Gurus

Top 5 song of the 80's for me.

I find artists who crank out one great song, and then never to be heard from ever again fascinating--and this is also a great pop song, too.

a fun tune

i love this little guy

and one more..he is little and does not take up much room..

Here's one from an album I was obsessed with about 12 years ago.  The "band" is Kleenex Girl Wonder, which is actually just Graham Smith, who recorded a bunch of lo-fi, guitar pop songs in his dorm room at Northwestern (or was it University of Wisconsin?).  The album is called Ponyoak, and I've been listening to it nonstop over the last couple of days.  Not sure if it was a time and place record for me, but it still holds up to these ears.

wow haven't thought about this guy in awhile. he has a bandcamp page, must check it out

I mentioned that I was listening to that album to an old buddy on Facebook.  He told me that last year's KGW album Secret Thinking is excellent.  I'm going to track it down. I have pretty much everything else Graham Smith put out, except I never was able to find his first record, Sexual Harassment.  Some of his later stuff was more miss than hit, but you could always count on a handful of great pop songs per release.  Ponyoak, however, is gold-- pretty much start to finish.

Loving this Kleenex Girl Wonder, hadn't heard of it before, so kudos to maximum jack as usual.
Anyone who digs this would love the Capstan Shafts, and vice versa.

Perfect?  Pretty darn fine.
