A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

I tend to think Farrah's s/t album, released a couple of year ago, is their best (from which this track is taken). You can listen at the link below. The other 2 full albums are good listens also.

Permalink Reply by Stan Schwieger on June 10, 2012 at 10:26am I find artists who crank out one great song, and then never to be heard from ever again fascinating--and this is also a great pop song, too.

Permalink Reply by maximum jack on June 12, 2012 at 7:43pm Here's one from an album I was obsessed with about 12 years ago. The "band" is Kleenex Girl Wonder, which is actually just Graham Smith, who recorded a bunch of lo-fi, guitar pop songs in his dorm room at Northwestern (or was it University of Wisconsin?). The album is called Ponyoak, and I've been listening to it nonstop over the last couple of days. Not sure if it was a time and place record for me, but it still holds up to these ears.

Permalink Reply by maximum jack on June 13, 2012 at 5:22pm I mentioned that I was listening to that album to an old buddy on Facebook. He told me that last year's KGW album Secret Thinking is excellent. I'm going to track it down. I have pretty much everything else Graham Smith put out, except I never was able to find his first record, Sexual Harassment. Some of his later stuff was more miss than hit, but you could always count on a handful of great pop songs per release. Ponyoak, however, is gold-- pretty much start to finish.

Anyone who digs this would love the Capstan Shafts, and vice versa.
