Rock and Roll Tribe

A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

I love songs that snatch me from the first note, and then rip into the splendor that is a great rock song.  I am talking about the songs that grab me by the throat and never let go, until the experience is over.

No better example for me than the Boss, Bruce Springsteen's "The Ties that Bind."  From the opening drumbeats from Mighty Max, to the Big Man's sax solo, and finally to Bruce's exclamation of "TO FACE THE TIES THAT BIND!," this song has me pounding whatever is around.

Perhaps due to the cross-pollination of Springsteen and Southside Johnny, the latter also has several songs that press my mental "pedal to the metal."

"Take It Inside," penned by Little Steven is great example"

Like an old friend that I haven't seen in a while, I always welcome when Domino pops out of whatever music source I have on:

As Van says, "there's no need for argument" on this one.

This has three spots for me that mark where I get mugged: the opening riff, then where the song breaks into the main melody, and when Rod Stewart starts sparking off "In the morn-ning, please don't say you love me..."

This song kicks butt from note 1

A bit obvious perhaps, but for me nothing recorded in the past 47 years tops Keith's opening riff for pure audio rock and roll adrenaline ...

Any number of LZ songs would fit this fine discussion, I second Vic's motion sometimes it's those old obvious tunes we love the best.

another one for the DUH! file but so good from beginning to end.

One of my favorite 70's rockers--starts and finishes in a flourish:

If there was a discussion titled musical ripoffs, this one would fit as I always think its Led Z when it begins.

I do reach for the volume knob when it comes on so it must fit the bill here as well.
