The obvious list includes the likes of "Jailhouse Rock" and "A Hard Day's Night". The less obvious list? "Burning Rubber" and "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls", to name but two. Somewhere in between we have Allan Arkush's "Get Crazy" and "Rock & Roll Highschool".

Not really musicals per say say but Wes Anderson movie sound tracks are always perfection.
the Royal Tenenbaums, The fantastic Mr Fox, Life Aquatic and Moon Rise Kingdom are movies for me that could be listened to with my eyes closed.

The Grunge era doesn't get much love around these parts, but this movie's soundtrack was instrumental in defining the genre:
The soundtrack also contains the only song by Pearl Jam that I still love ("State of Love and Trust").
