I was just thinking about one today.

Guided By Voices-I Am A Scientist

I thought it was"

    "...I am a lost soul

    I shit myself with rock and roll"

Honestly I prefer my version

Which I thought for years was:

which I thought was a super hip reference to Marc Bolan's pre-T Rex group that I had read about in Goldmine magazine.

When I first heard Foreigner's song "Dirty White Boy", I thought Lou Gramm was singing "Cause I'm a 30-watt bulb", meaning he wasn't very "bright".

Thirty-three years later, I'm thinking that probably was the better lyric ...

Seriously: the reissues/deluxe editions have solved a lot of this problem, and they lyrics are pretty damned great, on those first 4 classic albums at least.
