once you get past 50, it seems to be lots of deja vu all over again..(and again..)..I had this thought about how this was the perfect song for this discussion..know I know why!

Best Al Green song...

Just about every track from this album would qualify:

But I'll go with this gem:

Despite its hit status, one of the nastiest "so long" songs ever IMHO--and directed to a current band member. Ouch.

Great song, great album.

For some reason the words to this song suddenly came to me this morning.  This was one of my favorite bar bands when I was attending LSU in 1991-92.  The album was actually just a self-released cassette.  Not sure why it was never reissued once Better Than Ezra signed to Elektra-- I guess it sounded too much like 1986.  If you like Southern, jangle-pop, à la R.E.M. or the Connells or Guadalcanal Diary or any of a million other bands roaming the bars south of the Mason Dixon line in the late 80s, then you will love this one:

X-Burning House Of Love

Just uploaded another one of my wife's old songs, and thought it would fit nicely in this thread.  This is the track that was featured on the Darla Records compilation back in 1996 and features John Davis of Superdrag doing everything but the singing.  "SPF-100":

Max jack,

Great voice..groovy song! Thank you for posting this!!

Thanks for listening!

My  wife just told me this little nugget about "SPF-100": When they sent it in to Darla, the guy asked how many girls were in the band and were they cute?

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
