Rock and Roll Tribe

A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

Being ever the rebel, I'm not a big fan of planned fun. I think Disney is the evil empire, not into cruises or resorts. I actually wouldn't mind a cruise or resort if they catered to not-so-mainstream people and not-too-touristy activities.

We do a lot of traveling and exploring places, people and food. It takes a fair amount of research and planning. It would be nice to go to a sunny island and relax without having to deal with planning, yet not have the confinement of a typical resort.

Anyone have any vacation advice? Places to go? Cool stories to share? Where does the rebel veteran rocker get her vacation on?

I love Puerto Vallarta, particularly the old town area, called the Zona Romatica. You can stay on the beach but walk right outside your hotel and find funky shops, art galleries, restaurants and the like. And walk a few blocks away from the sea and you're in an actual Mexican city, not a tourist trap.

The hotel we like to stay at is hardly a glitzy resort - it caters to Mexican families on vacation and American's who want something more low key. A wonderful spot: http://www.playalosarcos.com/playalosarcos/

Australia. It's warm and sunny when it's snowing here... and it rocks. Great clubs/bands/beaches/scenery. Good wine, cold beer. Marsupials. What more you need?

I got family in Melbourne, so my opinion is based on that, but I suspect you could go to Perth/Sydney/Gold Coast and have a good time of it, too.

Will be in Austin, Tx later this month. Traveling with my hip chick 25 year old...what should I not miss?

besides missing SXSW 2012 of course....

I am going to Vegas and LA  in May. Las Vegas is becoming a serious rock town. Double Down Saloon. Kiss has a minature golf course. Vamp vegas is a resturant nightclub own by Vince Neil. If you are coming on the weekend Check out Penn and Teller at the Rio.

LA -The Rock Walk, Amoeba record shop, Whiskey a Go Go. Check out Johnny Ramone and Ronnie James Dio Graves.

Mann's Chinese Theater as well the Capitol Records Building

I totally met Michael Nesmith and I didn't pass out

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
