Collectively or singularly the Fab Four never fails to surprise me with some long forgotten...or yet unheard gem out of their vast catalogue. What is your favorite Beatle  B side..or song of relative obscurity?

Tonight it was this one..had not it heard in a long old while..

Regardless Harry..I kind of like the beat and the chaos in this one...

and the fact it sounds nothing like the Beatles (to me)

Gail, have you heard Yes do the Beatles' Every Little Thing ?  (on the first s/t Yes album..)

Pretty good.

Also, Gaudalcanal Diary did a good version of And Your Bird Can Sing (.....not nearly as great as the Beatles, but still ok...)

Ahhh..yes, a nice reminder of a really sweet one..

will check out the other And Your Bird..Thanks Harry!!

I might add YOu Know MY name..is not something you would put on the stereo to dance to or even listen to..it's merely a novelty to ponder the long strange trip (if you will) that was/is the Beatles.

A couple of years ago we went to Florida for Thanksgiving to visit family. My cousin's husband is a Beatles fanatic and had just gotten Beatles' Rock Band. I don't particularly like playing guitar hero (or any video game for that matter), but everyone seemed to be having a good time, so I started shouting out requests. First thing that popped into my head is "And Your Bird Can Sing". My brother, who is eight years older than me, claimed he'd never heard it!! It occurred to me that all he remembers are the albums my sister had-- Meet the Beatles, the White Album, Let it Be, Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper's, the Blue and the Red compilations.  I ended up going through a Beatles phase in High School and I picked up everything else, but by that time he was long gone from home.  I decided to make him a mix to sort of fill in the gaps. Here's what I came up with:

Beatles - Underrated 1963-1966

01. And Your Bird Can Sing
02. Don't Bother Me
03. If I Needed Someone
04. There's a Place
05. I'll Cry Instead
06. Think For Yourself
07. For No One
08. You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
09. Not a Second Time
10. Do You Want to Know a Secret
11. Baby's in Black
12. Wait
13. I'll Follow the Sun
14. Any Time At All
15. I Want To Tell You
16. It's Only Love
17. All I've Got To Do
18. Things We Said Today
19. I Don't Want to Spoil the Party
20. Misery
21. You Can't Do That
22. What Your Doing
23. I'm Happy Just to Dance With You
24. Every Little Thing
25. Tell Me What You See
26. You Won't See Me
27. The Night Before
28. I Call Your Name
29. She Said She Said
30. Run For Your Life
31. I'm Only Sleeping
32. Rain
33. Yes It Is

BTW, this era of the Beatles is far and away my favorite: The pre-facial hair Beatles.

And Your Bird Can Sing is one of my favorites, great list, I think the Boys from Liverpool will be blasting at my house today.

Thanks for the reminder on this fine tune Max Jack!

I have a hard time considering any Beatle tune (...except the few non-album tracks that were B sides only way back when..I mean on the original releases..) to be obscure or unheard at this point.

And for me, I must admit You Know My Name Look Up My Number is in the running for worst song ever released by anybody.

Edit: for me there are only about 4 Beatle songs that are less than absolutely great.
