A Global Army of Veteran Rockers
I come here to praise Wheat.
Not the vital ingredient of beer, bread, and so much more.
Not the bane of the gluten intolerant.
Wheat, the band.
Unheard of semi-neighbors of mine from the remote cranberry bog of Taunton, MA.
Check out any of their sublime 4 or 5 albums, not a down moment among them, but might as well start off with "Per Second Per Second Every Second" and especially the song "I Met A Girl"
Please use this space to recommend your favorite Dream Poppers and/or Shoegazers new and old who should be checked out.
e.g.
Wheat
My Bloody Valentine
Chapterhouse
Slowdive
Pale Saints
Unkle Bob
Magoo
Elbow
Railway Children
Grand Archives
The New Amsterdams
Bell X1 (...not sure thosse last 2 belong, but...check em out...)

Loved their debut album (Logic Will Break Your Heart).....then their next one....somehow I hated it, and perhaps I didn't give it a fair shake....just now a GREAT newer song came on (Being Here)...not brand new, mind you, a couple yrs old...but, great....back on the radar...
Permalink Reply by Harry on April 25, 2011 at 11:59am Alcest....I'm a Luddite, I don't know how to embed the video....but my god, please listen to this song:

Also, check out Allison's Halo:
Permalink Reply by Steve Newton on April 30, 2011 at 3:50am The Joy Formidable are a favorite current band doing this kind of stuff.
Curve are all time greats. Heavy electronic shoegazey stuff.

Tamaryn
Doves
Travis
.....and as Steve implied above kids, my god are the Joy Formidable just an insanely great relatively new band. We all just missed a US tour and they're back over doing dates in the UK.
Very cute, petite blond chick up from on guitar and lead vox, who will just astonish you with the rockingness she brings......
I owe Curve some more listens....

Do "School Of The Seven Bells" count? They certainly have the woozy, dreamy thing going on in a big way.
And no list is complete without My Bloody Valentine.
Permalink Reply by Harry on May 2, 2011 at 6:09am Thd Dandy Warhols are working pretty well for me right now.
They're an old story, but I have not really checked them out too much previously....
