A Global Army of Veteran Rockers

I don't know of a band that has spawned more songs that "ape" their sound more than the Beatles. There are the obvious candidates – Badfinger/The Beatnix - but certainly many other bands have created music sonically similar to the Beatles.  For example, this song from Ocean Colour Scene...this song could have been a Magical Mystery Tour era song:

So, how many "Beatle" covers are out there?

Another band that does an incredible Beatles simulation is East of Eden--the ending of this song is pretty much ripped from "I Am the Walrus."   Nonetheless, "Your Biggest Fan" is a great song in its own right--if not just a little creepy, too.  I could not find a way to embed this, so head here, and listen to the non-acoustic mix of this song:

Mark And The Spies-Won't Work On Me

Outstanding.
I mentioned Badfinger....there are all sorts of examples, but this one I think has a nice White Album feel...and happens to be my favorite Badfinger song.

badfinger was produced & groomed by paul mccartney on behalf of the apple label. i know he wrote a couple songs for them, and their name is derived from "the badfinger boogie" which was the early working title for "get by with a little help from my friends." they're about as close to a beatle cover band (and one approved by the band at that) as any come.
Let us not forget that even the biggest bands gave the Beatles sound a crack:

i think XTC occasionally brushes up against the fab 4, but even if robyn hitchcock didn't reference the beatles in the title, this song really captures the feel of beatle cover to me

Some took an occasional stab at the Beatles sound and some made a career of it. Cue Todd Rundgren's Utopia:

A really interesting Beatlesque cover is actually a Van Halen cover, "Why Can't This Be Love?" by Gigolo Aunts.  They play it as if they're covering "She Loves You."
Hilarious!  A great reworking.
I like Ocean Colour Scene. Do these guys count? http://grooveshark.com/#/s/Ordinary+Man/2wqRFF?src=5

So Mike Nesmith. Yeah. WTF, right? Private, reclusive, mysterious for many years. A couple of years back, he got on Facebook and he posts long, winding tales about himself, his dogs, his home, his past, and a really lovely Mother's Day post last weekend. Photos go up. The whole thing. It's like he disappeared and then came back on his own terms. I didn't know how to take it. I'm a huge Monkees fan, no doubt. And, being a woman/girl of a certain age, I have a favorite and that favorite is Mike.…See More
